Proctor Replaces CEO
By Stephen Dalton

- Mona Aboelnaga Kanaan -

Proctor Investment Managers LLC (Proctor) is a New York City-based strategic private equity investor in investment management firms. On October 16th, Proctor announced Mona Aboelnaga Kanaan, in addition to being president of Proctor, will now operate as Chief Executive Officer.

James C. Coley has left the firm after founding it in early 2006 and serving as Chairman and CEO.

Coley said, “When Mona and I co-founded Proctor nearly two years ago my goal was to establish it as a new force in the asset management industry. That has happened, and I now want to complete the circle and apply my developmental skills to new challenges. Proctor is now in a strong market position, and under the leadership of Mona and our senior executive team, is poised for further growth.”

Kanaan said, “Our firm has grown tremendously in less than two years. With thanks to my co-founder Jim Coley, the strong backing of Proctor NBF Capital Partners, the merchant banking group of National Bank Financial, and an expanding roster of stellar partner firms, the most exciting days for Proctor lie just ahead. Jim’s contributions helped set the stage for where we are today. His entrepreneurial skills helped establish our firm and, on both a personal and professional level, we all wish him well in his new ventures.”

Kanaan continued by saying that since inception in January 2006, Proctor has reached a number of business milestones. These include partnering with investment firms that manage 9 billion in client assets, building a robust private equity investment capability, and diversifying its product offerings across a broad range of traditional and alternative asset management products.

Kanaan was previously Vice Chairman and Senior Managing Director of Proctor’s predecessor firm, Overture Asset Managers, LLC. With a career spanning over 15 years in the private equity and investment banking fields, Kanaan oversees Proctor's strategic development and acquisition program as well as its international expansion strategy.

Before co-founding Overture in 2002, Mona was a Senior Vice President at Communications Equity Associates where she worked on expanding the firm's private equity business as well as investing in and launching new businesses. Prior to joining CEA, she was a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Siguler Guff & Company, a NY-based diversified private equity firm with over $3.5 billion under management.

She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of Proctor Investment Managers, Conquest Capital Group, Explorer Alternative Management, Capital Programs, Inc., American Near East Refugee Aid; The Tanenbaum Center for Inter-religious Understanding and The Arab Bankers Association of North America.

Kanaan earned a B.S. in Economics and Marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from Columbia Business School. Mona lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters”
