Vista Ventures has added Lisa Reeves as a general partner to the Boulder, Colorado-based venture capital firm. Reeves, formerly Senior Vice President of SAP Ventures for SAP AG, joins with 14 years experience in the technology industry and six years in the venture industry. In addition to direct investing at SAP, she was also responsible for the strategy and overall performance for all venture activity on a worldwide basis.
Reeves’ addition to Vista will make it one of the few female-owned venture firms in the country. The National Venture Capital Association states that less than 8 percent of partner-level members are women. Vista Ventures is an emerging manger in the venture capital asset class. However, Vista’s principals are experienced and were previously employed with other venture capital firms. Their first fund was raised in 2000, and they plan to raise a second fund most in 2008.
The firm currently invests in networks and network technology, software, internet media and data services. Vista is also a minority-owned firm. In the venture capital asset class, Vista Ventures is unique in that there are few funds that are considered minority-owned, and even fewer that are women-owned.
Reeves commented on her new position saying, “I am very excited to join Vista Ventures at a time of expansion and growth. The team is focused on bringing high-touch counsel, operating experience and other expertise to the firm’s portfolio companies and I am very comfortable with an active hands-on approach. This strategy was a major driver in my decision to join Vista. Also, I continue to be impressed by the quality of technology companies in the Rocky Mountain region and the overall vibrancy of the venture capital community.”
